Particularly beautiful! Bird's-eye view on ten major parks in Jingzhou

In recent years,the park in Jingzhou has already been developed from the former one or two into

more than ten, including the Eight-hundred-year Chu-State City Park which isunder construction and Jingxiang Inner River Park which has already been setup. To walk in parks has already become an important part of Jingzhou people’slife.

Zhongshan Parkof Shashi District

Located at theurban area of Shashi District of Jingzhou, it was constructed from the 22ndyear of the Republic of China (1933) and completed at the 24th yearof the Republic of China (1935). It covered an area of only 270 mu at first but now an area of 746.2thousand square meters (hectares) in total, the largest park in Jianghan Plainas well as the largest Zhongshan Park in China.

 Mingyue WetlandPark


Opened to thepublic on July 1st, 2014, it is located at Jingzhou District ofJingzhou, starting from the north of the Jingzhou ancient city wall to thesouth of Jingsha Avenue, with the junction of Jingsha Avenue and Jingzhou Avenueat the east and the Original Red Brick Fishing Area of Small Northern City Gateat the west. It covers an overall area of 21.53 square kilometers, including agreen park area of 6.51 square kilometers and a water area of 11.89 squarekilometers.

Jingxiang River BeltWetland Park


It is startingfrom Leijia Dyke of Jingzhou at the south to Xuqiao Road at the north andending at Wude Road at the west. It plans to take No.1 Channel as the boundary atthe east while the Jingxiang External River Wetland Park is manifested in belt,covering an area of 31.87 hectares.

Three KingdomsPark

Located at the interiorbroad area between the North Gate and the West Gate of Jingzhou ancient citywalls, it covers an area of 26 hectares, including a water area of 17 hectares.The large water area of the Three Kingdoms Park is the North Lake of the AncientCity. By relying on natural scenery of North Lake, it is divided into fourzones, namely the East Garden, West Garden, Pearl Island, and Middle Island. Itis formed naturally with green lake, blooming lotus, birds singing, andluxuriant willows.

Linjiangxian Park

By taking theNorth Head of Jingzhou Yangtze River Bridge as the axis, it is adjacent toYangtze River at the south, Riverside Road of Jingjiang Levees at the north,Wanshou Tower Park at the east, and ends to Xutangzhou Diking at the west, Itslength from the east to the west surpasses 1,600 meters while length from the southto the north reaches 150 meters, with the largest width place of 750 meters. Itcovers an area of 78 hectares.

Yuqiao Park

It has been thelargest comprehensive amusement park in Jingzhou so far, covering an overallarea of 16.78 hectares. It is an open park. There are 23 large-scale recreationfacilities, including a 26-meter roller coaster with a length of 490 meters andan area of around 4,000 square meters. Its scale is much larger than the one inZhongshan Park which has a height of 24.75 meters. Besides, projects such asthe 49.8-meter Sky Wheel, Water Park and Sea Rover are much larger than othercorresponding ones in Jingzhou with a higher level.

Xigan Ditch BeltPark

There is aninland river in urban area——Xigan Ditch near the Jingsha Avenue in Shabei NewArea. Xigan Ditch is one of the four arterial drainages in the four-lake basin.It starts from Leijia Dyke of Shashi District and crosses Jingsha District,Jingzhou Development Zone, Jiangling County and Jianli County with multiplefunctions including flood protection, flood drainage, irrigation, and waterregulation and storage. In the past, it was named as the “Dragon Beard Ditch”of Jingzhou. Now, by using the engineering of introducing Yangtze River waterto Han River, carrying out engineering of connecting rivers and lakes, andperfecting the mechanism of ecologic water compensation, the dead water inXigan Ditch has become clear again, and the water quality has been improvedobviously.

Wenhu Lake Park

It is located atthe Shashi District of Jingzhou, in the hollow-square area formed by JingjinRoad, Baiyun Road, and West Beijing Road. It was set up on October 1st,1987 at first and opened to the public. It has been the first new comprehensivepark in Jingzhou after the founding of the People’s Republic of China.

Jingjiang RiverPark

It starts fromWanshou Park at the west to Shashi District Hydrometric Station along YangtzeRiver, extending in the form of belt. There are six areas from the west toeast, namely the Evacuation Square, 1998 Anti-Flood Monument, 1024 People-ChainStone, Shatou Impression Area, Water Culture Museum, and Wangjiang Plank Road,covering an overall area of 5.5 hectares.

 FanjiayuanEco-Park

Fanjiayuan is acrevasse lake formerly due to the burst of Yangtze River Dam in modern times.It is said that it gets the name for there were a lot of people with the firstname of Fan living near the lake in the history. It is located at theencircling area of East Avenue, East Jiangjin Road, Wangjiagang Road, and EastBeijing Road, covering an area of 66 hectares, including a green land area of13 hectares and lake area of 46 hectares.

 Wanshou Tower Park

It can’t belisted into the ten major parks as per its area. But it owns unique features.Wanshou Tower, located at the top of the First Rocky of Yangtze River —Jingjiang Levee Guanyin Rocky, was set up by the 7th generation LiaoKing Zhu Xianhuo in Ming Dynasty in the 27th year under the reign ofEmperor Jiajing under the order of his legal mother, an imperial concubine of adeceased emperor with the first name of Mao, when he was the feudal prince ofJingzhou, taking four years in total for completion. The tower is 40.76 metersin height with eight sides and seven floors, and wood-like stone structure. Itwas reconstructed as Wanshou Tower Park after the founding of the People’sRepublic of China.
